The Hampton Pirates beat Morgan State 91-71 at the MEAC tournament to advance to the semifinals. Reginald Johnson and Deron Powers led the Pirates with 18 pts each, knocking off the 11th seed Morgan State. South Carolina St edged NC A&T 63-54 in one of the most exciting games of the day. SC State led 37-21 at the half but NC A&T rallied back to tie it late in the second half. SC State freshman guard Edward Stevens hit a desperation 3 pt field goal with the shot clock at 1 to put the SC State ahead for good. NC A&T forward Bruce Beckford finished with a 17 pts and 8 rebounds.
