Kam Chancellor of the Seattle Seahawks will host the Fifth Annual Seven Cities Family & Friends Memorial Day Cookout, Saturday, May 24 at Lakewood Park in Norfolk, Va. Sponsored by Pepsi, Z104 and 95.7 R&B, the family-friendly event provides the Hampton Roads community with a free opportunity to meet Norfolk native, Chancellor, along with star NFL players, in a fun and relaxed environment.

On the heels of the Seahawks’ Superbowl Championship, this year’s cookout will feature an impressive guest list of more than a dozen NFL players, including several of Chancellor’s “Legion of Boom” teammates – Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Byron Maxwell – as well as Hampton native, Tyrod Taylor of the Baltimore Ravens. In addition to great food and entertainment from Z104’z Shaggy and DJ Canrock, guests should expect an abundance of activities for children, such as moon bounces, face painting, and relay races. Prizes and giveaways have also been provided courtesy of the Seattle Seahawks. The Seven Cities Family and Friends Memorial Day Cookout will also feature the first-ever Talent Showcase and BBQ Rib Cook-off – judged by Chancellor and other NFL guests.

“This has been an amazing season for me, so I’m excited to bring my teammates to Hampton Roads again this year,” said Chancellor. “Winning the Superbowl is not only a personal and team accomplishment, but I consider it a hometown victory. The 757 community has been super supportive in my efforts on the field and in the community, and I’m really looking forward to spending the holiday weekend with family, friends, and fans – and enjoying some good barbeque.”

To kick-off the weekend, Chancellor’s foundation will also host the Kam Cares Celebrity Game Night – scheduled Friday, May 23 at Dave & Buster’s in Virginia Beach. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Kam Cares Foundation, which supports children and families facing economic hardships in the Hampton Roads and Seattle areas. Within the last year, Chancellor – through the Kam Cares Foundation – has donated more than $50,000 to community efforts, in addition to clean water initiatives in Ethiopia. The foundation has several philanthropic events and initiatives scheduled before the 2014 NFL season begins.

“The NFL has given me the power to affect real change in the lives of others,” said Chancellor. “I’m fortunate that I’m able to do what I love, support my community, and at the same time, inspire the youth following in my footsteps.”

On February 2, 2014, the Seahawks won Super Bowl XLVIII, with Chancellor having an interception and 9 tackles during the game. For more information on Memorial Day Weekend events, visit http://www.kchancellor.com.
